Buying gently used clubs from online retailers has been a thing for awhile. Now a major discount-golf retailer is selling used golf clothing and accessories – in the name of saving you money, and saving the planet.
Second Chance is Global Golf's expansion of its long-running used-clubs business. It offers several layers of quality on gently used golf goods, at a significant discount over new. Offerings include: accessories, apparel, bags, balls, shoes, and tech (and, of course, clubs).
Here are some examples:
Bushnell Hybrid Laser & GPS Range Finder. $287.99 (new price: $450). Slightly worn condition.
FootJoy Pro SL Previous Season Spikeless Golf Shoes, size 11-1/2. $69.99 (new price: $180). Slightly worn condition.
The Second Chance section of the Global Golf website also includes new items that have been unboxed, again for a decent discount.
If you have good-condition golf goods that you want to get rid of, Global Golf will buy them (assuming they pass inspection) and give you website credit.
If you're wary of buying used golf items, check out the Conditions Rating Guide for a description of their policies and product grading.
I like that this program is not only about saving money. As Global Golf explains on its website: "The GlobalGolf business model fosters our ongoing goal of environmental sustainability through the reduction of wasted materials. Our focus on buying, repairing, and reselling previously owned golf product results in an annual recirculation and extension of life for over 300,000 golf clubs and other golf products back into the market and not into landfills.
Lighter on the planet and lighter on your wallet."
Bravo.
